I am fighting with outbreak of hair algae Chantransja sp
in my livebearer tank. I considered using AlgaeFix.
Has anybody here used it before? What are your experiences?

This is the list of its active ingredients:
Poly Oxyethylene, Ethyl ENR, Ethylene Dichloride.

Will it be safe for other plants, "algae -eater" and other fish?
Here is the pic of my algae-eater from the time there was no algae:
http://www.polbox.com/p/pszemol/pleco.html I do not want to loose it!
Should I move it to a different tank for the time of treatment?
I have read I need to remove from the tank shrimps and snails.
When is it safe to put them all back after the treatment?
What should I expect will happen with the algae? Will it
fall down from plants to the gravel? Should I vacuum die-off?

Me too!

I don't like using medicines unless I have to, so I'm not. I
wait til it gets clumpy and then pull it off by hand. The fish
don't seem bothered and my bristlenose plec keeps it off the
lower leaves so it only grows at the top now, where I can easily
remove it.

Anyone with any solutions I'd love to read them, until then
I see removing algae as just another bit of tank maintenance.

Mine are not easy to remove - there is always something left
on leaves' edges.

So far I have had no joy. I'm not too fussed though as
Algae is good for the water quality.

I do tend to get algae on the glass that does not scrub off
easily though. and it also grows on the plant leaves.
