To those of you interested. My elephant nose developed a case of tailrot some 2
wks ago, and I posted for helpfull sugestions to treat the problem, many
responded and I said I would post treatment results if "Mormy" didn't die from
the desease or the medication. So here we go 2 treatments in 2 days of
malicite green ,20% water change 10 treatments of melafix daily with 20% water
changes every 3rd day . At this point in time he/she has stopped chasing its
tail and appears to have recovered but only time will tell for sure. Mormyrids
and similar exotic species are difficult to to treat because of their
sensitivety to metals and general medication for aquatics. Anyway the problem
seams gone and the fish is still alive ,so I gues I must have done something
right I hope this will be some help to someone in the future Thanks all who
