What basic medications should be on the shelf under the tank?

I have a wonderful 4' freshwater tank with a very happy mixture of fish and
plants. So far no problems have arisen that require medication. But, no
doubt they will at some time in the future. Ignoring all the issues which
begin with 'depends on x,y,z', what is a sensible array of medication to
have on hand? I'm really looking for pointers in the right direction, so
that I can then research the finer details. Thanks.

The main ones are obvious:

Water dechlorinator
dechloramine remover (if you need it)
Aquarium salt

fresh clean Water is the number 1 medication for fish!

As I have read, some meds don't store well as with testing chemicals. So if
you do go to buy some, best to wait till you need it. Then store em in a
dark/cool place , away from the aquarium lights etc. I would say even then
after 6 months, and you need it again - buy new. FWIW.

Ah, OK, I didn't realize that. Thanks

Aquaarium Salt
Ick Cure - (Ick is a parasite)
Melafix - helps heal bacterial infections (and is for the most part non
- toxic)
Fungus and Parasite Clear
These are easy to use, because you just add the medication to the tank
(remove carbon while using).
There are other medications such as antibiotics for seriously ill fish,
that many fish veterans (and veterinarians) use that when using having
stricter specifications for administering in case of extreme emergency.
A hospital tank is also a good thing to have to separate ill fish, from
other healthy fish.
