View Full Version : Loaches spawned?

Went in to feed the fishes this morning and there appear to be a couple
dozen eggs (look like beads of tapioca) on the plants (Java Moss) at the
bottom of the tank. The only thing I've got a pair of (aside from neon
tetras) are loaches (probably one of the Schistura species) so they're the
likely candidates since the eggs look way too large for the little neons. The
other fish (mostly tetras) seem to be ignoring them so far...
Has anyone bred loaches before? Any ideas on how long before the eggs hatch?

I've kept a variety of loaches and I'm intrested in spawning them too. Is
breeding loaches in captivity possible ? If so, what conditions are
required, etc.?

Brian,
The only snails in this tank are regualr pond snails. These larger single
eggs appear nothing like their jelly masses.

I believe yoyo loaches are not difficult to spawn, but others like clown have
never been bred in the home aquarium. You can search the archives at loaches.com
for info on this.
