I bought a pl*co the other day for my cichlid tank.. For the first time ever
I put the 'e' in pl*co in a post on a forum somewhere. The next day, no sign
of him, and now he has been missing for 3 days. I fear the worst.... Cant
see him anywhere and there are no 'sucker trails' amongst the algae on the
rocks.
So be warned, the superstition may be true.

did he get out of the aquarium? have you checked one the floor behind
things? have you checked inside the filter, he could have gotten in there
some how, or hes probably hiding under the gravel or up stuck in a cave
somewhere inside the tank.

They like dark places, so maybe it's hiding in such one.

Nah, I was reading the after action report yesterday. Black helocopter
anti-pleco unit Verde-3 took him out.
They work extra hard keeping the pleco/pl*co statistics in line. ;-)
(If you haven't read Cryptonomicon you owe yourself a real treat.)
But slightly more on topic, if you have any hollow decorations he really
could be hiding up in one. Turn out the lights, drop in an algae wafer
or boiled zuch, be really still and see what shows up...
