I need some help on this one.

I got a female krib, she developed pop-eye about two weeks ago, I left her
be for a week, seeing if it got worse and trying to determine the cause
before taking any action.

She ended up getting worse, eyes really swollen out, so moved her to QT and
started treating with Kanacyn. I still haven't located the underlying cause
of the pop-eye, and the Kanacyn hasn't done a thing. Her eye's are even more
swollen, deep red infected areas above each eye, looks really painful. Today
is Day 6 of treatment, supposivly the final day of treating.

What other causes of pop-eye would their be that kanacyn wouldn't treat?
This stuff is an all round anti-biotic for treating everything like fin rot
to tiberculosis, dropsy, internal infection, bacterial and fungal
infections, hemoraging, etc.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear abou your Krib :(
I bought a couple of Red Rainbows a few months ago and one of them was
parasite ridden!!! Pop eye and anchor worms galore, I actually bought it as
a "Rescue". It took about a month and a half but it finally seems that its
coming right. I think your Krib was just badly looked after b4 you bought
it. Add a little course salt to the tank and keep water healthy. Give it
some time and see how it does. IMHO 6 Days is a little early to see any
difference. Good Luck

I read that air bubbles in the water can cause the eye to pop out like
Popeye. If there's something in the tank that's producing fine
bubbles (like an airstone or water straight from the tap) the bubbles
can get in through the fish's gills and cause embolisms.

Injuries to the eye can also cause the swelling. However, if both of
your fish's eyes are popped, I would rather suspect the disease than
either injury or air bubbles.
