Fish Suggestions

What kind of fish would go good with the following basic conditions:

Would be happy being by itself in a 10g tank, a Ph of 7.0, a temp of ~72F,
and will not get too big.

Any and all suggestions welcomed. Thanks!

Betta, although you'll need to warm it up a bit to 77F.

How about some sort of dwarf cichlid? Not one from Africa (they are mostly
community/schooling type fish) but one of the smaller South American species
like a Convict, Rainbow cichlid, any male of the Apistogramma species or a
Firemouth? Cichlids are cool and can actually train their "masters" to do
all kinds of tricks! I once had a Jack Dempsey that taught me to "come when
called". It would go to the top of the tank and "pop" the lid until I came
in and talked to it or fed it! Now you can't have a JD in a 10g but if you
ever graduate to a 20 or 30g then I highly recommend the JD as it's a
beautiful fish when mature!
I have a pair of American Flag fish that would be more than happy in a 10g
tank (I know you said one fish but males show their color so much better if
there is a lassie about to impress). Some types of Killie fish would
probably also like your setup but they tend to be short lived. American Flag
fish also happen to be a species of Killie but mine have lived a couple of
years so far.
