Deceiving topic, but after tonight, makes sense.

Anyways, what I'm wondering about is if anyone has ever coheres a nocturnal
fish into a daylight fish. For instance, I bought one pictus, the light in
the tank he was in was burnt out for a couple weeks when I bought him,
brought him home and since has hung out inside a big log, coming out every
now and then for food. Bought two other pictus', they came out of well lit
tanks, and stay out in the light.

I seen a couple striped Raphael's in a tank a few days ago, well lit with
hiding spots, and they were swimming the tank peacefully.

I bought my striped Raphael 2 months ago, haven't seen him since I bought
him until tonight. He was about 2-2 1/2" long the last time I ever seen him,
kinda scrawny. That was when he was in the bag before moving him into the
tank. After seeing the free roaming striped Raphael's, I had to check mine
out, make sure he was actually alive. He was in a small broke down plane,
just seen his tail. Shook the plane, nothing, took the plane out of the
water, nothing. Finally, with the plane out of the water, shook it a couple
times, and boy did he get mad at me, yapped up a storm as he wiggled and
dropped into the tank.

So, wanting to make sure he was healthy, I took every hiding spot out of the
tank to fully examine him. He's now 4" long, 1-1 1/4" wide, and is the
scariest looking fish I own, yet beautiful. Looks like a fish X vampire.
Bulging veins, shadowy eyes, spikes.

He swims peacefully around the tank in full light.

So, question is, if I were to leave the hiding spots out of the tank for a
period, would he adjust to the lighting as the Raphael's I seen earlier this
week? Has anyone been able to do that without stressing them out?

Cheers
