Is it normal for a cory to keep playing dead. Basically what one of my corys
do is go up to the surface and just 'float' and then suddenly move quickly
and then go back up but this time his belly is on the surface (upside down)
and also float. I know he is not unwell and I know he isn't dead because he
blinks at me when I watch him and I am finding this very funny as he looks
very daft.

Mine occasionally go swimming against the current to the top of the
tank, attack a bubble and swim back down. Not noticed them floating
belly up. Yours may be getting air trapped in his little belly. Try
soaking your food well first. I find floating upside down
distressing, even if I don't make a fuss about it (I kayak/sink
regularly...)

that behavior is not normal from my experience. Are you feeding your fish
sinking pellets or soaked flake food that sinks. Cories will rise to the
surface to feed if necessary and can and do swallow air . The only Cories
floating upside down that I have seen usually end up in the garbage shortly
afterwards.
