I have 6 plecos (Gold Nugget, Mango, Yellow King Tiger, Blue Eyed Albino
Ancestrous, Royal and a Queen Arabesque) in a tank with driftwood and have
not figured out how to keep the water clear. Does anyone know how to do
this?

When you say the water is not clear, what do you mean? If it's brown from
the wood, the addition of carbon in your filter will help.
Is it cloudy? Green?

It depends, if your poop factories (pl*cos) are dirtying the tank up, you'll
need more filters... If you mean the driftwood is leeching out tannins, you
need charcoal in your filter, and changed often....

remember, pl*cos are poop factories, they're big maunfacturers...

I have a similar problem in my tank, with tannins leaching out of wood - how
long should I expect this to continue happening? Would a micron filter (like
in a magnum) help at all? Is there any harm from the tannins?

Thanks

there is no adverse effects of tannins, and actually, in some places, where
the trees are at the edge of slow moving rivers, you can see a yellowness to
the water, and that's why... tannins...

you can change your filter cartridge, as charcoal will help, to take ALL the
tannins out, you have to do water changes gradually, and in all honesty,
it's not a big deal unless it's just visually unpleasant...

To get the most tannins out, boil it...

I had alittle clarity problems and this was just driving me nuts, i
went to my lfs and they gave me a chemi-pure filter medium bag, that
was the best thing i ever did.

Evan

PS. It also helps with nitrites and amonnia

On the contrary, tannins can be therapeutic for the fishies as it contains
anti oxidising properties. I'd say if your driftwood is new you can expect
it to leech for at least 4-5 months.
