Hi! Got any good locations in Chicago/Great Lakes for LFSs?

I'm a relatively experienced fish keeper (fresh water) with a 70GT tank in
storage. Mostly I've done goldfish (30 years of that) but swapped to
guppies and other live bearing fish last time after an extended power outage
took out the goldfish tank (they were 10 years old and more and quite big
and just a tad too much to survive a 5 day period with no filtration, took
them to the LFS before they expired and am told they sold well. Got
credited with 300 dollars for them).

I'll be looking for a wide variety of fresh water plants for the plant tank
(30G, kitty litter treatment) and simple, not overly expensive fresh water
types. I's a long term hobby but I do not go for fish that cost over 10$
each.

Oh, I also have 2 other tanks, a 40G and a 20G. Usually I use one for fry I
want to keep, and the other is a sick tank.

Living Sea Aquarium in Park Ridge (www.livingseaaquarium.com) is a
really nice store, but overpriced IMO. I like to window shop there,
but I've never bought stock from them.

In the southwest suburbs, there is a hole-in-the-wall PetLand on 59
just south of Naperville with a surprisingly good stock of both fresh
and sal****er. The store looks like an explosion in a loading dock
(all PetLands do), but their fish department is far nicer than any
other in the area. And they don't carry just the 'standard' species.
They've had rainbow gudgeons, unusual plecos, a nice selection of
cichlids and rainbows, and apparently they're associated with a betta
breeder, since they have a nice assortment of fancy bettas.

Coral Reef in Norridge, Il is good (just type in that name on www.zip2.com)
very reasonable in terms of prices.
