View Full Version : Talk about bad luck, two leaks in two years

2 years ago I bought a 150 gallon perfecto tank. One year after this
purchase, the tank sprung a leak. Lost 10+ gallons on the floor. Called
perfecto, they replaced it promptly, saying there was no problem. Got
another tank, and 6 months later another leak. This time 25+ gallons. Once
again perfecto is crediting me, however this time they admitted to having
problems with their 150 (48 inch long) tanks. They said that they are now
using new glass, new technique, and promised me this tank won't leak. I had
to give away about $300 worth of fish.

So, I ordered a 110 gallon Acrylic tank. From what I understand, acrylic
tanks are chemically bound together and really can't leak. Kind of sucks
that I have to go smaller, but this is all that I can budget for (with the
credit from the 150).

Anyway, thought I would share this with you guys. Any thoughts on Acrylic
tanks? I know they scratch easier, but my main concern is the leakage. I
just do not want to go through this again.

Were the leaks in the Silicon Sealant?
Or did something else happen?

If it was in the sealant, then these leaks are easy to fix.
