View Full Version : Where to find tank product reviews?

I'm in the market for a new tank, and I'm not having luck finding places
discussing tank features/quality.
Know of a site? Or have personal experience with a decent and affordable
brand? ("Affordable" is something different to everyone, I guess, but for
me, I was hoping to get a (100/gal or close) tank & stand for $400 or less.)
I've found ads for Ocean View, and for Oceanic. Oceanic looks like possibly
higher quality, but it's maybe too fancy/pricy for me. I just want a basic,
rectangular-shaped tank.
Thoughts or suggestions on how or where to learn good tanks from bad tanks?
Thanks.

Good Luck finding a high quality tank AND stand for $400. I have two 120G
tanks that I bought at Pet's Mart. Tank was ??? $3?? something and stand
was $298 or something like that. This was the cheapest tank I could find.
Optical quality of the glass is horrible, but 1 and 3 years old and no
leaks. I built the stand for the first tank for $75 in "tongue and groove"
pine, and bought the black particle board stand for the second.

Oceanic, All-Glass & Hagen are reputed to be top manufacturers of glass
aquariums in North America, and all have tanks in the 100-130g range. A
108g Hagen (5' x 24" or 6' x 21") is about $413 cdn. A cheap tubular
steel stand about $200 cdn or build it yourself. hth

Thank you John and NetMax. I did make a find and a purchase that I'm very,
very happy with. Of course, if my living room has 120 gal of water leaked
into it next week, I'll be singing a different tune, but for now I'm really
pleased with what I got. (The tank looks so much bigger here in my house
than in the store - whew! I'm trying to imagine you having TWO
120s..ohmygosh!). I live in N. Texas and looked at several pet stores,
from mass retailer to independents both cheesy and impressive - but never
saw the brands called All-Glass & Hagen. Wish I had, I would have loved to
have seen what those brands had, to use as a comparison - but didn't see
those at all. From my original hope of $400 for a 100/gal tank & stand, I
had to go up to $480 instead - but it got me the total black color I wanted
for both pieces, and it's 120/gal.
Thanks for your help and information.
