personally i've gotten more laughs than i can count from my little school of
harlequin rasboras. they are as active and curious as tiger barbs without
the fin nipping. my favorite thing to do is soak up a carnivore pellet in
the filter and then put it in the tank when they're hungry- they go after it
like piranhas... pulling off parts and tearing pieces in a feeding frenzy.
inevitably the chunk of food gets too big to swallow while at the same time
too small to rip apart, and one of the huskier ones manages to fit it
halfway into his mouth... then it's a race to see which of the other ones
can rip it from his little jaws while he frantically tries to swim away and
swallow it at the same time... silly fish :)
i wish i had room for an oscar though!

When ever I step into my office the rainbow fish in my tank rush to
the front. They see motion, possibly color (I don't know), and they
definitely cannot conceive what it is they look at... I find it to be
a great analogy for my life. **grin**
Another important part that I like is the chance to create an
idealized environ for these creatures. Call it the eden syndrom if you
will.

I'm allergic to all cats and most dogs, so I have limited pet options. I love
all my fish but my oscar, Will, is my baby. He "answers" yes or no questions,
plays in his bubbles and attacks any and all food put near the top of his tank.
Feeding Will every morning starts my day off right.

In a study many years ago, it was found that people living in homes with
aquaria had 10% lower blood pressure than the rest of the population. There
is a calming quality about watching an aquarium that seems to be akin to
watching a fire in a fireplace, which is why I'll never own a home without
both of those elements.

I enjoy all my fur/fin/scal kids but the fish seem to take me away
from the rest of the world for a while. Some of my tanks take a
little more work, but I would not have it any other way. Some of my
fish are like real pets in that they react to me. My angels and
trigger fish follow me around the dinning room and will eat out of my
hands. In fact my husband says that they give him the creeps LOL when
they stare at him when he is trying to work. My cory cats remind me
of busy bees, always busy looking for tid bits left over from the
angels. My clown fish (Nemo of course) is my daughters favorite fish
and she and the dog spend hours watching him.
The only thing I will not like about my fish is moving 4 tanks to our
new house. But we will tackle that when the time comes.
