Neons and Platies

- Does anybody have experience in keeping Neons & Platies together?
- Does a soft water with a pH of about 6.5 stress the platies?

We are keeping cardinals (very similar to neons) and platies together.
We have water to suit the platies, and find that the cardinals are fine.
Tank-raised cardinals and neons will have acclimatised to the local water
conditions, and our water matches that of the local dish shops we got
the tetras from.
