Hi all,
I recently replaced the hood on my 10G tank which had incandescent
bulbs to a flourescent bulbs one. I am adding plants to my tank so I
figured I need the flourescent light. The plants seem to appreciate
this change and so does the brown algea. All of a sudden I see
brown/red spots on one of my plants, aquarium walls, gravel, air
stone, basically on everything! The lights are controlled by a timer
and I didn't change the time the lights are on, about 12 hours. I have
been scrubbing the algea off and I do 20% water replacement every
week. So, what's the secret of getting rid of the algea? Is there a
certain type of cory or cat or algea eater that I should add? Do I
need a higher wattage lamp than an 15W? Leave the lights on longer?
TIA.
