My little 10g hood went together just great, but I made a big mistake... I
got a trigger start ballast, which will come on with a simple plug in, but
when put on a timer, it won't ignite.... Come to find out there IS a
difference between trigger start and electronic ballast, but nobody at HD or
(b)lowe's could explain to my liking....

Is there anybody who DOES know??

There's instructions on thekrib.com how to convert one of these to start
automatically, just dig around in the lighting section I believe and you
should find it.

I dont' have the mdl numbers, but realized after I had it wired up, it's a
trigger start... Plugged it into the wall, worked fine... Plugged it into a
timer, and it would work.... But... plug it into a surge strip, and it would
not work.... had a buddy come over and test it with an voltmeter, checked
out fine.. he just said, get another ballast and be done with it... so I
am... btw, this is a wooden canopy, no metal anywhere to ground to or be
electicuted from....
