View Full Version : Copper Question

I will be moving in a few weeks. I'm moving from a place that uses city
water to a place that has well water. I know that this well water is high
in copper. Is there anyway to lower the copper or should I used bottled
water?

I'm asking here because I'm finding you to be a nice bunch. I asked in
another group and was jumped on because I didn't list my current pH,
ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, etc. Frankly, I'm perplexed what that has to do
with a future problem, but hey, all I know is my question was not answered.
I really hope you all can help.

Thank you in advance,

Ricky

I'm pretty sure activated carbon adsorbs copper. You could use a large
britta filter or something like that to filter the well water.

HI

Check with your local Home Depot, Menards, or Lowes and get a canister
filter and cartridge to remove the copper. I cannot remember what it's
called, I have one on my bait tanks to remove copper and heavy metals.

Thank you so much Victor and John for your responses. Of all the groups
I've posted the question to your answers are the most concise and useful.
Geez, some answers I got weren't even answers, just little dances around the
question.

There is a Home Depot around the corner from me, I will take a run over
there in a few days to see if I can find a large filter for this.

Did you find a filter? If not I know a guy who has the answer. He's the
guy who provided mine.

Haven't had the chance to look yet, John. I'm still in the process of
packing and won't be moving my fish until mid-January. As it turns out, my
mother has carbon filters on all of the faucets, but it does cause the water
to come out too slow. I would rather take the water from the tub to control
the temp. so I will still be looking for the larger filter.

Thanks again,

Ricky
