Hi there,

Another question unfortunately!

Got the following:

25 Gal tank
5 Mollies (but we've recently had 4-5 fry).
Tank about 3 weeks old (mollies been in a week).

Before we put the fish in all the tests checked out fine. Since then the
nitrite levels have risen (but all others are ok).

Whats the easiest way to reduce this? I've checked back the feeding to
minimal now. I've also noticed that the plants (which are growing fine) have
some brown marks on the leaves...Is this linked?

Any help appreciated!

Paul

To understand the increase in Nitrite level, see the FAQ at
http://faq.thekrib.com/begin-cycling.html.

It's probably unrelated to the browning of the leaves on your plants,
though. What kind of plants do you have and how much light is the tank
getting?

The 2 * 18w tubes (standard ones that came with the juwel rio 125) are on
about 14 hours a day - too much?

Plants are things such as corkscrew vallis?

Paul.

Water changes!!!
You should be doing small, weekly water changes during the cycling process.
It keeps the ammonia spikes and falls (and nitrite levels) from being dangerous
or even deadly.
