I have some barbs in a 20 gal and 2 of the orange ones lock noses and twirl
around , then one chases the other. The rest of the barbs seem to gather round
in a larger circle.Happens mostly in evening. What does this represent? Is it
fighting/ agressive behavior or mating behavior or what??

it's good news! it is a normal part of tiger barb behavior, sparring. it is used
as a form of 'social bonding', to establish a 'pecking order', and to see who
has the right to breed with the females. it is a good sign. it's about like boys
playing in the front yard, meaning that, everything is normal, healthy and
happy. they are also know for high-speed games of tag and chase around the
aquarium.

enjoy! :-)
