How big do the babies have to be before I can release them from their mesh
enclosure? I have a 10G with 3 zebra danios, 1 male platy, 2 otos, and 3
ghost shrimp plus lots of plants. TIA

I'd wait until they were too big to fit into the mouth of any other tank
inhabitants. So with your stock, I'd let them get at least 3/8" to a half
inch long. Ideally, I'd set up a small additional tank or some kind of
'refugium" until they were even bigger.

I'm no longer going to try to save babies. Just finished stuggling to find
homes for 40 mickey mouses. My female plopped out 50-70 of them, never lost
any, they got to be about 1/2" and put them back in the community, lost
10-15 in the first week, rest ruled the tank, not a drop of food made it to
the rest of the inhabitants. That's when I gave them for free to a lfs, just
to get rid of them all, where they're now for sale at $3ea. (Actually nice
helping them out, profit they probably needed this time of year) Blue with
red fins, mickey tail.
Couldn't catch them all, counted about 40 that we got in the bag, there's
still about 6-8 in the tank.
Never again going to help them have offspring.
