View Full Version : Oranges

In my ventures of alternative foods, I've tried out oranges. Bala sharks are
nuts over them, just devour them.
Cleaned out the filter, it was quite pungent, aweful bitter rotton smell,
nothing I'd ever smelled before. Didn't think much of it at the time.
Went to do some in tank maintenance, slide the glass open, and get greeted
with citrus scents.
So, now I got a citrus flavored 90g tank, makes me wonder whether this is a
good thing or not. Fish don't seem to care.

Cheers

I have a feeling it may alter your pH, but since you have a 90g, it more
than likely won't make a difference. Just be sure to get all the
uneaten bits out before they rot.

Other than that I don't think it will do too much. There's a product
called MelaFix that's extracted from tea trees and that doesn't do much
to alter water quality.

Orange is a rather messy food although the fish love it. I put in a slice
(with peel to hold it together) and float it, or put it on a veggie clip so
they can pick at it, then remove it after an hour or so. This doesn't muck
up the water so much!

Speaking of Garlic . . . Brine Shrimp Direct has a Garlic Flake that my fish
seem to enjoy and no garlic smell is left in the water.
