View Full Version : Acquamarine out of business?
Mr. Sleep
January 22nd 04, 03:58 PM
Hello, a few days ago, the acquamarine.com domain no longer resolves.
Their website was taken down. They are not answering emails sent to
any of their previous addresses.
Does anyone know what's going on?

I just tried it and it came up fine. Maybe you're spelling
it wrong? Hint: there is no "c" in aquamarine. :)

Yes there is.

Their domain no longer resolves. Their website at the direct IP
http://63.85.129.25 shows that they have removed all of their content.
I use their products regularly and am alarmed by this.

Okey dokey. My bad for assuming. (Smack me on
the head. <g>) So I tried one of your links (given
above) and a page came up showing products and prices.
For example: Aquam-Nitrate $9.95 (add to basket).
I never heard of these folks before (obviously...) so
I'm not making this up. Looked current to me.

If you're really concerned, since there's a snail mail addy,
why not write to them?
BTW they looked interesting so I added their link to my
bookmarks. Thanks!

I thought they'd gone a long time ago. Last time I tried their web address
it resolved to some online pet store and I assumed they had bought the name.

http://www.aquamarine.com and http://www.acquamarine.com are two
totally and completely different companies that have nothing to do
with one another.
I am talking about acquamarine.com, NOT aquamarine.com.
aCquamarine.com makes bacterial products, among other things. One
product lowers nitrate. Another lowers phosphate. They make others as
well. I use these products. They really do work.
Their domain no longer resolves. Their website's content is gone. I
can't find anyone who knows what's going on. This just happened this
week, I fear that the vendors who sell their product will be
permanently out of it once they've sold their on hand stock.
The frustrating thing is everyone thinks I'm talking about aquamarine.
Even after I post direct links and point out the difference people
still don't get it.
What the heck, it's only more great products that will probably now be
gone forever. >:(

A common reason for this is that someone has forgotten to pay
the bill for the renewal of the domain name. That effectively
makes them disappear (and it's surprising how many companies
never notice that their own web site has disappeared because,
from within their own network, things continue to work fine).
Try the calling them on the phone -- you may find that they are
alive and kicking.
Cheers,
Michi.

Oops hit Send too soon. Was going to add that I just called Acquamarine on
989 793 8662 and got their out-of-hours (as it is) answerphone so perhaps
the OP might want to call them?

I am familiar with Acquamarine, I knew what you meant in your message.
Actually I searched Usenet after also seeing that their website was
gone.
I must say it doesn't look good. I looked up their webpage from
Google's cache and tried calling their phone numbers. Their 800
number, 1-888-842-6233, gives a recording that the number is "being
checked for trouble." Their direct number only returns a "we are
currently closed" recording when called multiple times during their
normal business hours.
I only use their Nitrate and Phosphate bacteria, and I for one am also
upset at losing these products.
