View Full Version : Algae wafers for cats

Something funny here,
Anyone ever had their furry friends take an interest in algae wafers?
My cats managed to open the container and eat them all!!
They've always been interested in the flakes, which I could understand
as they have shrimp n whatnot in there, but algae wafers??
No Kitty! That's muh algae wafer!

Our cats *love* all kinds of fish food. If you look at the ingredients,
algae wafers seem to have fish as their main ingredient.

My cat tries to eat fish food every day. As soon as I go into the fishroom
the cat is in my face trying to knock the container out of my hand. She
even likes frozen brine shrimp. Funny thing is that this cat will only eat
dry cat food and turns her nose at any human food. Years ago, she did
manage to tip over a few betta jars and have an afternoon meal. Now I have
tanks set up so she can't get her little paws wet and do some fishing.

My cat is adicted to anything fishy. He even goes out of the way to force
his way into an aquarium just to drink the water - but he won't touch his
own water dish.

LOL...I find it interesting that we have the same tastes in animals. If you
are a fishkeeper then 9 out of 10 times they also own a cat! I personally
can't stand dogs and think that cats have a much nicer personality.

I like dogs ok, but they're stinky and a whole lot more work. My cats
are just happy napping on top of the tank:

When my DH bought me the fish tank he said "Great, more mouths to

What kind of geckos you have? I have a couple female leopard geckos.
Oldest one is going on 10 now.

Both leopard, we have 2 males, one is going to be a breeder, the other is
just a runt that was too cute to say no to... The runt is a rainwater and
the other is just a gorgeous little orange tailed, can't remember what exact
breed, they are the wifes babies... I've got some pretty good pics somewhere
and would post them to the binaries group if you have access...
I'll post them there anyway.... go look if you can...

I have only one dog - but he weighs 60 kilograms and can look a six foot
person in the eye when he stands up.
I also have a ragdoll cat - and I hate to tell you this, but he eats two or
three geckos every day. He chases them around the house like mice and plays
with them.

I would like to think that most people who own fish own other types of
pets. My house is like a zoo with all the variety of pets we have,
including the family dog, cat, ferrets, reptiles and rodents. Yes my
dog can be pretty stinky some nites but I would not trade him for the
world. And one more tid bit here is that he will sit in front of the
fish tank and stare at the fish for hours where my cat could care less.

So would I but I know my friend cannot have pets... I gave him a
betta "starter kit" that I put together for Xmas and took him to
choose the fish. But strictly pets are in breach of his contract.
Fish are great for the kind of pet that a landlord can't really
object to because they are contained and don't mess the floor :)

Gotta watch out though as lots of landlords won't/don't let you have
tanks above a certain size. (Sometimes as little as 5 G is the max).

I claimed my 2ft tank was an item of decorative furniture :-)
