There is more grades of carbon than you really want to know ;~) Most of
what you find in LFS is either activated carbon, or mixed with ammonia
absorber (ie: zeolite). Buy the cheap stuff and replace it every 2-3
months if you want to continue using carbon. Some people do not use
carbon, and most use it selectively, so do a little research. For
example, I don't use carbon on naturally planted tanks, ymmv.
