Folks,

We are moving to a new place and we have a well (Sout India). The
water is very salty. I dont have any other parameters like pH, KH, GH
and etc. Water is not very hard because Soap and Shampoo works fine.

I am interested in a planted tank and with very few fishes. Is it
possible to have such a setup? Suggest me few fish varieties.

Regards

Sharmi

Some plants may do well. Some plants may not. I don't think the fish
will care. Fish that *like* salt in the water include most livebearers
like guppies and mollies, but most freshwater fish won't care once
they are acclimated.

I would be more worried about plant selection than fish selection. You
may want to go exploring and use native plants in your tanks. There
will be an excellent article on collecting plants in India by Madan
Subramanian in the next issue of The Aquatic Gardener.
