I have two snails isolated in a container meant for mating. Theres a crack
at the bottom for the fry to enter into a second chamber. i can see about
five blobs of snail eggs. I'm wondering how long it will take the eggs to
hatch. I dont know what kind of snails they are, ones round and ones cone
shaped <shrug>. What i really need to know is if the baby snails will be
small enough to escape the fry chamber they're in now. i dont want my whole
tank populated with snails.

Not true. Many aquatic snail species lay their eggs under water.

but most if not all of the mystery/apple snails lay their batches of eggs,
just above the water line...
MTS and pond snails are the only ones I know of that are underwater
layers...

Right.

MTS are livebearers, they don't lay eggs. Ramshorn snails lay their eggs
under water, and so do the 2 unknown species I have in my 20g tank.

I had snails once. I don't know what kind there were but they layed batches
of eggs under water.
I had cichlids in the tank and the snails over ran the tank.
I went through three complete tank changes cleaning every item in the tank
with hot water. Finlally I got rid of the darn snails.
Never again for me.

Only if these snails are apple snails. If they are apple snails they
must have access to the surface.
