View Full Version : Changing to a Larger Tank

Hi all,

At the moment I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 platys, 4 flame tetras, 2
cories, and 1 pleco (couldn't find any other algae eater). As the pleco
grows, I will need to consider getting a larger tank. Ideally, I'd like to
get something much larger, somewhere around the 30s or so.

Anyway, when I finally do this how do I move the fish over? I will be
moving the water, but I realize more water will be added. Will this mess
with what has already been cycled? Will I end up going through another
cycle? What is the best way to establish the new tank quickly as not to tax
the fish?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ricky

By keeping your filter wet & running, you should have minimal cycling
problems. The rest of the details (moving your fish) have been covered
recently in the newsgroups. I can't improve on what was said. Just
google the post archives, or check out the sites. Ideally, the new tank
is in a different location, so it's all set up and then the fish & filter
are moved over. If you can't find the info you need, re-post and I'll
answer what you need.
