I am such an idiot.. I can't believe I just did what i did.
I come home from work.. do a water change in my small tank using the
vacuum (see where this is going?) I use a dark blue bucket and thought
all the crap (dissolved algae wafers) was just that.. crap..
I dump the water into the toilet bowl and see my lil baby going down
the tube..
WAH! Poor little guy..
The service will be held at 7:00pm 02/02/04. I lieu of flowers please
give all your lil fishies an extra treat for me. :(

Deepest condolences. I did this same boneheaded
maneuver a couple of months ago with one of
my Endler's in a dark green bucket. What a
sickening feeling! I've switched to white containers
since.

Glad to hear you have completed the "lessons learned 101" course... I too
have switched to white buckets.... I did it with a beige colored bucket, and
an albino bristlenose... but don't think I didn't stick my hand back into
that toilet and grab him back out AFSAISI.... ran back to the tank where he
come from, dropped him in, held my breath, and after an almost blue face, he
perked up, flung his tail around a bit and hid under a rock.....
closest I've ever come to practically diving into my toilet.... ditched the
beige bucket that moment....

LOL, I regularly leave my white water change bucket to settle, and then
spend a few minutes staring, watching for anything moving. I'm looking
for worms (planaria, tubifex ...) or anything else which might have moved
in. Plants often carry stuff in from Asian & Florida ponds where they
are grown. I've also found fry this way, as all my tetra & loach
spawning successes have been accidental, and often not repeatable :o(.
I haven't had to dive into a toilet yet, but I've pulled fish out of many
different sections of the Pythons.

Stupid thing about our toilet is when you dump the water in.. the bowl
empties, you don't even have to flush, I waited to see if he'd 'sink'
back down but he never did :( I flushed about 5 more times to make
sure he made it out into the cold (-20) at least and not suffocating
in the pipes.. sniff..

I'll be picking up a white bucket for the lil tank I think. There
isn't anything small enough to get sucked up/trapped in the big tank.
