Since I've started UV sterilizing, The inlet tube to the fluval is
constantly plugging up solid with a brown mucousy type of goop. Doesn't look
like algae. The emperor has the same problem, inlet gets all plugged up, as
well as the impellor. The filter media itself is fine, amazingly, none of
this goopy build up, or at least not as serious.
This stuff isn't present anywhere else in the tank, only in the inlet areas
of the filters. Outlet tubes are fine.
What is this gunk? Any ideas?

When I had this, it was a combo, not enough mechanical filtration, too much
suspended particles(not enough circulation) and too many fish.... or too
much 'creation of waste' was going on....

Yeah... Fish grow fast...... I'm currently filtering over 800gph through 3
filters in a 90g. Have to service the filters every 5 days to keep the
environment "proper".

This gunk is something new to me however. Like brown jello. No smell either,
which I thought was odd.

They'll be getting a new home soon, a 120g. It's got a UGF system with it
(biggest UGF I've ever seen). Wouldn't want to see this gunk build up under
the UGF, that'd be a terrible problem.
