Does anyone have experience with ageing water in the blue barrels (30
or 55 gallon)?
I understand that chlorine will dissipate but chloramine will not.
Moreover, I have read that products which break chloramine down
produce may chlorine and ammonia as byproducts. The chlorine can be
aged out but what about the ammonia? Are there treatments that take
care of this as well or are there treatments which do it all?

I prefer not to age water. I use a combination of AmQuel and NovAqua
just before water changes. It takes care of chlorine, chloramine and
ammonia. You just want to make sure you add these just before changing
the water. Using new water introduces the electrolytes and minerals
fish need and also helps to restore the buffering capacity.
