I know this subject was discuss many times but I am here again...

When choosing the right light for a planted aquarium, what is more important
the Kevin or the watts reading? I bought a 2800K, 20W for my 30G tank...and
it seems to be kind of dark. I dont know if it is just my perception and it
is just right for the plants.

Somebody can help me to understand this?

When choosing a light fixture, watts is more important, as it's the
amount of power available to provide the brightness.

When choosing a lamp, you need to match the wattage to your fixture. The
fixture ballast, and the spacing for the connectors will be set for a
particular wattage of lamp. Generally, the longer the lamp, the higher
the wattage. At this point, you can look at the frequency (K) and
reproductive quality (CRI).

The depth of the tank, clarity of the glass cover, height of light above
the waterline, etc etc will all alter your perception. A 20W on a 30g is
0.67wpg, which is not super bright, but fine to see your fish and meet
modest plant requirements using low light plants. hth
