Hi
I have a toddler and therefore my aquariums have a million little
fingerprints and smears on the lower half. What can I use to clean the
glass?

I feel your pain. I have a 16 month old. This works for me. Wet
papertowel to remove the smears. Then use lightly moistened leather chamois
to dry. The chamois leaves absolutely no residual haze. Works great and no
toxic chemicals.

The reason I asked was that I was told NOT to use glass cleaners etc on the
aquarium because of contamination.

As long as you don't get it *in* the aquarium, there is no issue. Spray some
Windex on your towel and wipe. Do wipe slowly so as to not get any in the
tank.

LOL...Reminds me of that movie My big fat greek wedding where the old geezer
insists on using Windex as a "cure all".......

For 26 years now I have used glass cleaner to clean the outside of my glass
tanks.
However, I don't just spray the cleaner on the tank's glass.
I take paper towels, in another room, and spray the paper twoel with the
cleaner, and then clean the glass.
As long as you don't wipe the rim, or get the paper towel with cleaner on it in
your tank, you'll be fine.
I honestly can't understand why some folks make such a huge deal out of not
using glass cleaner on the outside of a glass tank. Just don't spray the tank,
spray the towel. = )

Using Glass Cleaner on the inside is definitely not a good idea.

However, there is no problem as long as you don't get it in (or near) the
water.

Hi Janine . . . :)

As an alternative to "glass cleaner" I've been using Seri Clean by Jungle
Labs. This stuff is wonderful for the outside tank glass AND it helps
prevent fingerprint smudges. :)

Hope This Helps!
