I was wondering if ammonia asorbing ability still function if they are
buried in the gravel?

No. For adsorbing media to work properly turbulent flow is required.

Zeolite only works when charged. If you are dropping the Zeolite in the
tank it will no longer be effective after absorbing it's max of
ammonium. Without being able to recharge the Zeolite with salt, you may
as well throw pretty rocks to the bottom of the tank.

Why? Why would you bury it, it's supposed to be in the filter if I've used
it correctly before.... it's not a substrate, it's a water conditioner type
product... it's not gravel... or did you accidently spill some????
I'm lost as to 'how' it got in/on the gravel?
