Hi everyone,

I have 4 freshwater black Nerites snails that lay individual eggs on the
glass of my tank and all over the larger leaves of some Amazon Swords. In six
months with several batches I've never seen these eggs hatch into anything, and
eventually after about 2 months they just fall off the glass and detereorate.
I've failed to find much information on Nerites snails on the net, and what
I've found makes me wonder if they require brackish conditions to breed
successfully. Does anyone keep these snails and know how to breed them and
what they need for successful breeding?

Check out the website www.applesnail.net, there is a big section on these
snails. I had the same problem, lots of eggs, never hatch. I did read that they
might need a host to complete the life cycle (ie a bird), no idea if that is
accurate. Keep us posted on what you find out!
