I am considering painting my new 54 gallon corner/bowed tanks rear glass,
and my question is any recommendations on colors, including black. Someone
told me certain colors have a soothing effect on fish , such as green due to
it's being common in most environments. I appreciate any input on this
subject.

The 260 gallon I have is painted blue. If I took a guess, I would say a
shade lighter than Ford Tractor Blue. I couldn't tell you the reasoning.

We have changed the colour on the back of our tank half a dozen times to
find out what we preferred. Newsagents sell large sheets of coloured
cardboard and bluetack--you might like to try this cheap method to find what
you like best, and what suits your lighting. (We setled on yellow, which
looks excellent, especially at night with just one light on.) Now that we
have decided on a colour, we will probably buy a sheet of thin foam and
paint it, in case we want a change later.
