Rick, thanks for your help on the cories, they've continued to lay eggs
about every 4 days now.... it seems that they are pushed into spreading
eggs when water is changed, and I'm still unable to tell if I have 1M or
2M... total of 3... but one is VERY much bigger... I'm hoping that's the
male... but are all cory's as hard to sex???? Actually, I've never been able
to sex a cory... any ideas how to tell???

The larger one, does have a larger rear section, more parelell tops and
bottom behind the dorsal fin, but can't find anything online, even at
planetcatfish that mentions how to sex a cory...

btw, they are bronze/green cories...

The eggs have filled up with little white dots, and can now see the spine,
any ideas on what's next? what should they 'live' in?? a tank with 2 in of
water isn't feasible, but if necessary, LFS I go....

Red, the big one will be the female. When you look at Corydoras especially
from above the female will always be the bigger, fatter fish. It's a good
ratio to have a couple of males to one female. Right now I have peppered
Cory, Baianinho 11, Aspidora,& gossei eggs hatching. You have two options,
either remove the parents and leave the eggs or remove the eggs. With the
exception of gossei and hastatus I remove the eggs to a hatching container
which is simply a Tupperware container with a couple of inches of r/o water
in it. I add meth. blue to prevent fungus. My peppered corydoras just
hatched today in water that was 68 degrees in that little container however
after hatching I remove the egg shells (very important) and then place the
container in one of my tanks which will keep the water temp around 73-74
degrees. The yolk sac is usually used up after 3 days and you can begin
feeding freshly hatched brine shrimp removing any uneaten food within 30
minutes of feeding and topping up the container with fresh water. You can
add an air stone if you like with a gentle air flow however from my
experience it is not really needed providing you do frequent little water
changes. I'll send you an article I did on hatching Aspidoras eggs for our
local aquarium society off list and it may help.

Yep, you got it, the larger one, I thought was a female, she's plump
alright, and the boys are 2/3 her size..... and her rear section is
practically pink.... I have noticed the males have turned less bronze and
more green....

How about liquifry and powdered flake? My LFS doesn't know what micro worms
are..

It's a bit subjective, and also depends on the popularity of the fish
(the more out there - the more spawning opportunities), but C.aeneus is
usually considered the easiet of the Corys to spawn. Having said that,
Corys are certainly not the easiest _fish_ to spawn, but once you get
them going, the right fish in the right conditions, then they make it
look easy ;~).

Powdered flake would not be my first choice. Too large, inconsistent and
swells after it gets wet, which for fry could be disasterous. Liquidfry
for egglayers (there are 2 types) should be fine, once you have figured
out how to get the food to the fry (use a long pipe to direct the food).
Rick can confirm, but feeding should not start until the fry have
consumed their eggsacs and start becoming mobile. That's in 2 days at
77F (?).

Hi Red . . . :)

I suggest decapsulated brine shrimp eggs which are tiny enough for fry, keep
for quite a long time and a little goes a very long way. I bought mine from

Hello, my LFS has some, was going to get some today as a matter of fact...
micro worms seem to be impossible to find around here, but the hunt is STILL
on...

that Brine Shrimp Direct is a great site. I may order some stuff from them
myself. The decapsulated shrimp and the golden pearls would work very well
with Corydoras fry. I have some Rotifer powder that I have used. Micro worms
work well if you can stand the smell of them. I have two containers of them
on the go all the time along with 3 containers of grindal worms and two ice
cream pails of white worms. Geez, I need a life outside of the fish room.

Hi Rick . . . :)

I love the BrineShrimpDirect site. I've ordered from them quite a few times,
their service is excellent . . I highly recommend. Also, they always throw
in a "freebie" sample of another type of food so you can try it out. :)
Their brine shrimp flake is great, as well as the deli flake and plankton
gold flake. In my last order I received a sample of the daphnia flake and my
fish seem to like that rather well.
