I need to snare a purple surgeon. He's too big for my tank, and being
rather a bully.

Any recomendations, or good products for it?

One method is to start feeding him out of the net, and
then one day pulling him out with the net.

He won't go near a net, though.

Put his food in it and leave it in the tank. When he gets hungry enough, he'll
get buddy-buddy with that net.

Coffee is only a way of stealing time that should by rights belong to

The other fish will get it.

Thats the way I finally wound up catching a solitary peppermint shrimp
that I wanted to relocate to another tank......I had no trouble at all
with the cleaner shrimp going right up into the net, but that
peppermint was sly and sneeky. I finally had to remove the pair of
cleaners first, then wait on the peppermint or I would still have been
doing nothing but feeding the cleaners.

You can use a pole with a #6 hook baited with some yummy algae and squid.

Bottom line, use a fish trap or like the others have said feed food above
the net and snag it.

This is the only reason I don't buy Tangs.
Beautiful fish, lots of personality.
Get TOO BIG for most aquariums.

I never had to use one, but I would try the one from eBay.
Looks interesting and it's cheap.
I've bought from this seller before, honest guy.

The listing says it has a 1.5" opening. Might need something bigger.

If the other fish get it, then he won't get it, so, he
will get hungrier, he will see that everybody else is
doing it, and will eventually go in the net.

Yea, but there's some really tasty morsels in that net
that he won't find in the reef tank :-)
