drum rotates and dumps food once every 12 hours. Put your battery in at the
time you want the first feeding to take place, say 8:00 A/M and you will get
feedings every 12 hours. The plastic slider simply allows for more or less
food to fall out as the drum rotates. I found that using flake food with
normal size flakes quickly clogged the thing up so I broke the flakes into
smaller pieces and it worked reasonably well for about 5 or 6 days and then
the dampness tends to cause it to clog.

Dave, there are 3 models that I know of which fit your description. One
is analog, and 2 are digital (a green model and now a black model,
Pro-feeder I think it's now called). I use the green model (program any
time, 1 or 2 feedings). The black model is a little cheaper, less
features, still uses 1 or 2 feedings, but I think the feeding are fixed
at 12 hours apart. If Rick didn't answer your question, post the model
you have, and I'll try to help.

Rick, after breaking your flakes into a smaller size, mix in
micro-pellets, then mix well. I use 1/3 pellets and 2/3 flakes. I
haven't had any clogging problems like this, and they have been running
for months. I'm starting to wonder how long the batteries last for, but
I'm really happy I bought them. It's too bad they are so expensive.
They are like Python gravel vacs. It really hurts at the cash register,
but later you wonder how you got along without them ;~) You can DIY your
own gravel vacuum, but I haven't seen anyone DIY an auto-feeder yet :o(

thx for that tip. Yes they are pricey. I was keeping up with them up to
about 10 tanks. But now with 35 tanks I believe it would be cheaper to hire
someone to come in every few days and feed the fish!!. They are handy though
and there are some better models out there but if yours works as well as you
say I see no reason to start paying extra for other models.

Of course, the one with the longest directions *sigh* ;~)

Automatic operation
-the cutlery icon over the hours indicates the first automatic operating
time is activated
-the cutlery icon over the minutes indicates the 2nd automatic operating
time is activated
-press mode to show 1>>. Press ON/OFF to activate first feeding time
-press mode again to show 2>>. Press ON/OFF button to activate the 2nd
feeding time.

Setting the clock
-press and hold adjust button for a few seconds until the hours begin to
flash
-press set button until proper hour is flashing
-press mode button to move to minutes
-press set button until proper minute is flashing
-press adjust button to end procedure

Setting automatic feedings
-press mode button until 1>> shows in top left corner
-press ON/OFF button until the cutlery icon shoes near 1>>
-press and hold adjust button for a few seconds until hours begin to
flash
-press set button until proper hour is flashing
-press mode button to move to minutes
-press set button until proper minute is flashing
-press adjust button when proper time is selected
-Select 2>> from mode button to set the 2nd operating time
-follow the same procedure as followed for setting 1>>

*whew* That's what I think you will need. Manual operation is just
pressing test, and battery installation should be self-evident.

Thanks - that's absolutely fantastic! I've tried it and it works.

Once again thank you.

Glad to help, and thanks for letting me know that it worked out well.
Maybe I should get some kick-back from the manufacturer's eh? NetMax's
on-line support. ;~)
