My sump has been up and running for 4+ months now...no problem.
In the last few days I have noticed that the water has gone down in the
chamber with the return pump
and the water level in the tank has gone up. Nothing is blocked up as far
as I can see.
It just seems like the pump is pumping more now than it was before.
My overflow has a u-tube...slight coating of algae but not much.
What can it be ???

I dont know if this will help or not but do you have a pump on your
overflow box to keep the air out and it running smoothly?
I had to clean mine out cause the algea bult up in the tubes and well
much to my disbeleif slowed the flow of my entire sump

The more I think about it, I think you are right.
The tube is quite dirty on the tank side. Time to get the ol pipe cleaner
out.
No air in the tube. I know this is a problem with continuous siphon.
Thanks

You should try to make a cover out of black acrylic to cover the u-tubes and
the boxes. It well stop the algae from growing in the u-tubes, the algae in
and on the teeth well still need to be cleaned. I checked my u-tubes once a
mouth for two and a half years before I got a drilled tank. Steve

Would painting them work?

Coffee is only a way of stealing time that should by rights belong to

Don't hold me to this but I was thinking in the old days we used to dye
acrylic which would give it a smoky effect and that would stop the algae
action. just a thought. Bill

If you paint the tubes you well not be able to see if all the air is out of
the tube to start the overflow.
