Good evening, I'm new to marine tanks (many freshwater though). Started a 30
gal. "cube" reef tank about a month ago. Completed cycling: ammonia 0,
nitrite 0, nitrate 1, SG 1.022, Ph 8.4, 2 inch deep live sand bed, approx.
35-40 lbs. live rock (with good deal of coralline algae, and some- as of
now- unidentified organisms, and polyps, etc.). Have 1 maroon clown, 3
"pajama" cardinals, 2 "watchman" goby & 1 pistol shrimp, and 1 bumble bee
crab. Filtration is a Red Sea protein skimmer, Rena xp2 canister w/300gph
return flow (diverted to two rotating deflectors to simulate wavemaker),
compact flour. lighting (96 watts 50/50 fixture). First question is any
comments on equipment?
Purchased a bubble tip anemone three days ago. Looks very healthy, brightly
colored, is feeding, "foot" is not damaged at all. Hasn't yet bonded with
the clown, but hopefully it will. My actual question is, after placing in
bright spot, with good water flow (on a depression in live rock), it seems
to have "fallen over" on it's side. It's foot is starting to attach (can see
the disk), but is lying on it's side. Is this "normal", or would it be in
danger being on it's side? I know that it'll move if not happy, and so far
it hasn't moved away from the spot, but I'm worried about it's future health
being on it's side.
Thanks in advance for any comments or advice.
