View Full Version : More problems

Here I am once again. One black moor is floating at the surface of the tank.
The other one is sitting on the bottom. Everything seemed great after the
Maracin treatment. I treated for 5 days in a row (several weeks ago). I am
wondering if it is possible that there are more parasites?
I did a partial water change (25%) last night and tested the water this
morning. The nitrates are in the "safe" zone, but the water seems rather
alkaline and hard. (pH around 7.2 and KH around 60). Could this be the
problem? Is the water too hard and alkaline? If so, is there a home remedy
rather than going to my LPS this afternoon?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
---Cynthia
this is either/and problem of water quality and overfeeding. quit feeding the fish
for 2-3 days see if they quit floating and sitting.
feed antibiotics, DONT PUT THEM IN THE WATER. You can get rid of bacteria IN the
water by changing the water, you can get rid of bacteria on the fish by doing a salt
dip. and treat bacterial infections ON the skin with antibiotic CREME

Your ph and KH are fine, in my experience goldfish like a ph between
7.2 an 7.7
Maracin can destroy your beneficial bacterial colonies (it is an
excellent product), so watch your ammonia, nitrites.
Otherwise I second the above advice, and would add the posibilty of a
Mebromin dip too.
