Guppy Problem

A friend @ work has a 5g eclipse with asst guppies... One has a problem...
it's belly is sunken and it looks as if it's anorexic... just noticed it's
got white stringy poop, and I remember that being a problem, considering
guppy poop is usually pink...

Anyone know what that is off the top of their heads???

RedForeman,

I don't know jack about guppies, but other fish that have white pooh (esp=
ecially
if food is not white coloured) are typically suffering some sort of inter=
nal
infection.

Red, that is a pretty good indication of an internal bacterial or parasite
condition. If the fish is still eating I would recommend buying some Tetra
medicated food , they sell for both problems and if I had a choice I would
start with the bacterial one. If they are not too many fish in the tank then
I would feed the whole tank this food for 7-10 days with absolutely no other
food given. Personally and this may seem somewhat cruel to some but if it
was me I would simply remove and put down the sick fish. The cost of the
medicated food will be much more than replacing a guppy.

Dang... I have some med. food, and I'd hate to tell her that... but she's
aware that it's 'not good' so maybe she'll take it ok...

She developed it after her last HUGE batch of babies, so internal infection
is very likely... stress, over crowding etc....

I guess I'll go deliver the bad news...
