years ago. Could someone please tell me where I can find a message archive
for the rec.aquaria groups ?

You might try the "advanced search" at groups.google.com (filter on
rec.aquaria.* and, if you remember it, your posting alias or email address)

<http://groups.google.com> is the only archive I know of, goes back to
1967. You can search individual newsgroups or all of USENET.
