Sometimes (Like right now) the Loaches race up and down the tank at high
speed. Up and down and up and down. Like they are going crazy. Is this
normal?

Providing that they are in good health, feeding well and no parasites

Clowns - I call it "dancing" :-)
Do yours also collapse in a heap together, often on their backs?

Being clown loaches, I would say yes, but you might want to check the
nitrAte level anyway. Sometimes (with other fish) these type of
movements can be due to high levels of nitrAtes........... Frank
