Some of the chemistry is wrong, but in general I agree with what's in
the article.
In comparing the ppm ratios of chemicals it is proper to use the
atomic or ionic weight, not the atomic number. In the discussion of
chloride and nitrite ions the error builds in this article, in the
other parts of the discussion the error is much smaller than the
accuracy to which we work.

An excellent site I've referred to many times (if you've ever felt the need
to have too much information on something ;~)

Net resources have not completely replaced books, but it's getting close. I
like the way I can find a page quickly in my books, and there are certain
articles which are quite handy, and would take data-mining to find on the
internet.
ps: in your Outlook Express, select TOOLS - OPTIONS - SEND - and check off
the 4th box (or around there) to 'include message in reply'. This is the
convention for posting, leaving the previous message intact so the thread
can be followed. From there you can <snip> OUT (or IN) the relevant pieces,
according to what you are commenting on.

Excellent, now one last thing (which is a little quirky), posts are written
on the end of the page, not the top like an email. For single replies, it
doesn't matter, but for following a long thread, which is often the case
here, it's best to follow the Usenet tradition of bottom-posting.

And you can also use the silly free "OE QuoteFix" I sometimes use, as it
makes who wrote what easier to see.

I also use OE and that can be annoying when no one snips irrelevant parts of
the posts but just keeps adding on. I try to remove anything not necessary
before replying. Sometimes I can't even tell who wrote what in long threads
if no one snips - that's why I use "OE QuoteFix" as the authors are in
different colors. It doesn't help with scrolling forever but at least you
know who wrote what at a glance.
