View Full Version : Asian swamp eel
It looks like something out of a horror movie. No one's sure how the
asian swamp eel came to Florida, but University of Florida researchers
say the bony fish is now firmly established in tampa. They live in
shallow fresh water like ditches or canals. During droughts, the eels
burrow into mud to survive and can travel for short distances across
dry land. Lacking venom or sharp teeth. The non-agressive eels aren't a
threat to boaters or swimmers. But they are tasty. Check out this

I love fried and smoked eel. They're delicious. :-) We would jack for
them all the time in the waters around Long Island.

In the East end of London the delicacy used to be jellied
eels....yuk...wouldn't touch them myself even though my Grandad told us
they were scrummy....Where I live, there used to be an eel farm run by
one of the local pubs (we are talking decades ago) - they used to make
eel pie....eeek...I can think of nothing worse to eat....well maybe I
can but I don't want to go there either....

LOL!!! I'll venture forth. The worst thing I ever ate was liver.
Disgusting! I smelled kidney's cooking and they never made it past my lips.
Eels, prepared properly are very tasty. I don't remember ever eating any
seafood I didn't like. In the bays and inlets we also caught and ate crabs,
clams, conchs, scallops.... YUM! :-)

Drunk Elves. That have soiled themselves.
(I'd rather not sign my name to this.)

Too late, we know who you are :-)
For the record - dried fruit, suet, flour, egg and copious amounts of
brandy if I remember correctly....

Well then, after you've eaten a bit you shouldn't mind how
it tastes!

And remember to serve it the traditional English way you need to soak
the cooked pudding in Brandy and then put a match to it - best done in
the dark - watch the pretty blue flame until it goes out - and then it
is ready to eat....
