I've seen some sea shells for sale in the crafts department at
Wal-Mart. Do you think it would be safe to put one or two in my
aquarium? Or do they do something to them that would make them
unsafe? (I'm only thinking of them as decorations.)

Some I have seen had been lacquer coated, might not be aquarium safe.

=====================
I've used them without a problem. I did soak them in clean water overnight
before using them. They'll slowly dissolve in acid water and may raise the
PH a bit.

By doing so, as Koi-Lo pointed out, it will not only raise the gH, but
the kH as well (sea shells = calcium carbonate)................

find out if they are *real* and if so are they coated with something that
would seal them. If you would like seashells and are unable to use those see
if you can find the fake ones, i do know what you are saying i have jars
filled with shells everywhere from when we moved from naples florida i took
brought many back here, filled the trunk and had a few sand dollars as well,
boy the car did not smell to good, as my husband found out when he opened
it, but i dried them out and they sit on top of the tank.
