View Full Version : Zebra Danio Eggs
I'm curious to know where danios prefer to deposit their clutch. Will they
use a vertical surface similar to cichlids or will they use a surface
parallel to the bottom...Thanks again -ED

Danios let 'em fly. The eggs fall through the water to the bottom,
many get eaten before they hatch. Use a small tank, 5 gallons or so, I
use a Tupperware box, cover the bottom with marbles, two deep. Keep
the lights down low - they don't need light to see what they're doing.
Aggies work as well as cats eyes. It helps if you can separate the
females from the males beforehand, condition them with good food for a
couple of days, put a couple of pairs in the marbled tank - remove
them the next morning and wait a couple of days for the eggs to hatch
and the tiny fry to begin making their way up through the marbles. I
forget if they're night time or early morning spawners or if they
don't care. The marbles method works for many egg scatterers. The
waiting for a couple of days to see if it worked is tedious.

There is 5 breeding strategies with fish: egg - scatterers, hiders,
nest builders, brood carriers, and livebearers. Danios are egg -
scatterers.................. Frank

In the SouthEastern parts of the USA, We have some of the best
head-out-of-ass pullers known to man. Come on down and I can arrange for
your examination. How's the scar tissue from the sex change coming along?
Don't forget your methadone treatment at 4 o'clock. And stop playing with
yourself so the scar tissue and heal properly.
