Well, all tankmates have adjusted well. Today, Oscar is hanging at the
bottom. He's not eating or wanting to eat as his appetite reflected since
his adoption. I saw him nibbling at some driftwood early this AM...I
noticed a piece of the wood float to the top. As I was reaching for the
net to remove the debris, He gulped the wood (chunk). I believe his days
are numbered. He's in the corner under a big phila leaf, as if he were a
ship that was just torpedoed. At least the experiment showed me that he
did get along with the 'should've been' fodder. I don't have any vodka
and clove oil to put him down if he doesn't perk up. Smooth Sailing All-

What kind of wood was it? That sold in the shops doesn't have pieces that
break off. Geeze, sorry to hear this.

We have those trees here. The wood I pick up and use in the forest behind
the house is ancient cedar. It's smooth, doesn't rot underwater for ages
and I have never seen anything come off them. You may want to check and see
what else you can find out there for your tank. There are always well aged
branches and interesting roots where I look. The biggest problem I have is
getting them to stay down. They almost always work loose and float. :-(
